Langtown Outfitters and Guide Service is owned by Mert & Carol Buzzell, Registered Maine Guides. Married in 1980, they have two children and five grandchildren. Almost 3 decades ago they built the camp of their dreams in Lang Township in the Western Mountains of Maine. In 2015 they built a second cabin, the Pine Palace cabin which sleeps 6-8 for their guided clients. In 2020 a third cabin, the Doodlebug Inn was complete. In 2023 the neighborhood
A-Frame cabin came up for sale and Mert & Carol felt the need to renovate this "diamond in the rough" for all to enjoy. Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and all the modern amenities and conveniences of home.
Most of their guided adventures include lodging, meals and guide service but can be changed if desired. They are always ready to custom design your dream trip whether it be snowmobile, ATV, hunting, kayaking or just a weekend away with your friends and loved ones.
Mert & Carol love to travel and have caught Halibut in Kachemak Bay in Alaska and Carol caught a 22 lb King Salmon in the Kenai River. Their most recent trip to Lake Ontario in New York yielded 88 lbs of fresh Salmon filets. They are always looking for another adventure. You may meet them on the trails, woods or waters of Maine.
In all seasons, Mert and Carol look forward to providing you with the best experience possible and creating the greatest memories. Give them a call today to book your next adventure.
You deserve it!

Carol Buzzell was born and raised in the small town of Greene, Maine, where she & her high school sweetheart, Mert raised their two children. With their move to Hartford in 2018 her 20 year career as Deputy Clerk in Greene took her to accept the Town Clerk position for a neighboring town for 3 years. She then felt the need to return to her hometown of Greene but this time as Town Manager.
Carol is a Registered Maine Guide for Hunting and Recreation. Even though she wasn't brought up in an outdoorsy family, she became more interested in hunting and fishing after building their dream cabin in Langtown. She became an avid outdoorswoman and has passed that love of the outdoors onto her family.
She treasures spending quality time with her husband, family and friends. You can often find her hunting whitetail deer, turkey, bear, and partridge or kayaking, snowmobiling and ATVing. Carol also loves planning the Women's Wilderness Weekends where she thrives on teaching others about nature and getting women outdoors.
Carol is a member of Maine’s Big Buck Club. To become a member of this prestigious club you have to shoot a buck weighing over 200lbs. Carol’s big buck weighed in at 222lbs which is currently the camp record.
As a Registered Maine Guide her specialty is the "Women's Wilderness Weekend Get-Aways" where she gives women the chance to learn new skills or improve their current skills in a variety of topics and in a comfortable environment. A fabulous adventure weekend with friends filled with laughter and learning.
Carol enjoys staying busy. She is a member of the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine and Rangeley Region Guides & Sportsman's Association, a former founding member for "Women of the Maine Outdoors" and former board member of "Friends of Becoming an Outdoors Women" (BOW), along with many other committees and organizations.
